Zoning
The De Novo team provides our public-sector clients with comprehensive zoning code update services. Our zoning experience ranges from the development of citywide and countywide comprehensive updates, to targeted updates to assist with the implementation of housing elements and general plan updates. We also develop project-specific zoning standards to implement planned unit development overlays and site-specific development standards which can be included in our Specific Plans.
We prepare zoning codes that are technically sound, legally defensible, and easily understood by staff, stakeholders, decision-makers, the development community, and the public. Given the often-esoteric nature of zoning codes, we assist each client with identifying the existing ordinance's opportunities and challenges and develop effective solutions tailor-made to address specific local issues. To best ensure the ordinance's implementation, we draft zoning provisions through extensive consultation with staff and stakeholders. To communicate the provisions to all user, we make extensive use of tables, charts, graphics, and figures.
